Epic Games and Disney Join Forces
Today there was big news announced that will excite both gamers and Disney fans. Epic Games, the company known for making Fortnite, and The Walt Disney Company have decided to work together on a new virtual world. Disney will be bringing its famous characters, movies, and stories to life inside this world.
The new place will be online all the time so people can visit anytime they want. Inside, you will be able to play games, watch videos, shop for fun things, and interact with characters from Disney movies, Pixar films, Marvel superheroes, Star Wars, Avatar and more. Best of all, people will be able to make their own creative things too like stories and share them with others.
The new world is being built using the same game engine, called Unreal Engine, that Epic Games uses to make Fortnite. This means over 100 million Fortnite players will have access to it right away! Disney is also investing a lot of money, $1.5 billion, in Epic Games to help make this project happen.
Both companies think this partnership will be great for bringing people together to enjoy Disney in new interactive ways. I'm excited to see what amazing experiences they come up with and can't wait to explore the world myself!
